About This Spot

Stepping into Wok-Inn Noodle feels less like entering a restaurant and more like discovering a quiet, well-loved neighborhood treasure. The modest storefront on Emerald Street hints at the simple pleasures inside—an atmosphere that’s intimate and unhurried, where time slows down just enough to appreciate the care behind every dish. The space carries a gentle warmth, punctuated by the subtle hum of the wok and the welcoming presence of its sole chef, whose hands and heart craft each meal.

This is the kind of place where waiting a little longer becomes part of the ritual, an invitation to pause amid the everyday rush. Here, the pace is guided entirely by the rhythm of fresh cooking, creating an experience that feels both personal and genuine. The aromas wafting from the kitchen—bright ginger, garlic, and a faint hint of smoky chili—draw you in, setting the stage for a meal shaped by tradition and quiet dedication.

Wok-Inn Noodle invites you to savor dishes that speak to authentic Chinese and Asian flavors, made from scratch with thoughtful attention. Whether it’s the silky, house-made noodles enveloped in a savory sauce or the rich warmth of a bowl of hot and sour soup, each bite carries a familiar comfort paired with subtle complexity. Ingredients mingle naturally, never rushed, offering space for the character of every component to shine through.

The charm here lies as much in the human connection as in the food itself. The owner’s visible presence behind the counter, managing cooking and service with steady hands and a quiet smile, adds a personal touch that resonates deeply. It’s a reminder that Wok-Inn Noodle is more than just a place to eat—it’s a moment of genuine hospitality, a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful experiences come from the simplest settings.

This place SHINES. The owner is a one man show and is cooking up some incredible food. His service is incredible, and he is making some of the most authentic, clean, delicious Chinese food I've ever had. If you live in Boise and haven't tried this place, do yourself a favor. Don't expect it to be the quickest place in the world, but go for the experience and you wont be disappointed.

This is by far the best Chinese/Asian Food in Boise. It’s a one man show, so please be patient and he will serve you some amazing food. Order the house made noodles. They were so good and the sauce on it was superb!

One man, one wok, one KING. Wok-Inn Noodle is everything I’ve looked for in a restaurant in Boise for YEARS. I spent my younger years in Singapore eating the freshest, most delicious Asian cuisine and I had yet to find anything in the area that was close to comparing until today. I want to start with the owner and sole wok-master, Chan (or as some know him by, Chef Jimmy). This man is so genuine and kind! I placed an order for take-out and arrived a little too early. He didn’t seem annoyed at all. He thanked me several times. I had no problem waiting, knowing it’d be worth it. My order included 2 egg rolls, house noodles (house made noodles, chicken, beef, shrimp, and mixed veggies), house fried rice (chicken, BBQ pork, shrimp, egg, green onion) and BBQ pork and seeds with hot mustard - $32.78. It took everything in me to not dig in immediately - had to grab some pics first. Everything was phenomenal. The fried rice was authentic, perfectly seasoned and completely cooked through. I found it paired so well with the spicy chili sauce served with the egg rolls. Them egg rolls, WOW. Generously packed with goods, heavenly crunchy and surprisingly not greasy at all. The pork and seeds were a great addition. The small comes with about ten good-sized pieces of char siu. The house noodles were everything I hoped for. Piping hot, mildly flavorful, loaded with the freshest veggies, meat cooked to perfection and incredible, mouthwatering noodles that are reminiscent of my days in SG. I cannot recommend this dish, and this restaurant, enough. I will be returning again and again as long as it’s open. I’m so excited to try the rest of the menu! NOTE: THIS IS A TRUE HOLE-IN-A-WALL. You come here for the food and the man who runs the restaurant. If you feel like whining about the dated decor, don’t. Trust me, no one cares. Wok-Inn Noodle is so much more than that. Also, everything is FRESH made when you order so expect a wait. Your patience will be rewarded. I just read a review from 8 years ago that mentioned the seventy-six year old owner…so you’re tellin’ me he’s now EIGHTY-FOUR and still slinging house-made noodles and dishes all by himself?! I’ll end my review the way I began. WHAT A KING!

Was looking for a noodle place that was closer to home. Called in an order for take away. Food was made fresh. The gentleman making our food was a sweet old man. Got home and had the most delightful meal. The Pad Thai was so flavorful and delicious. Definitely want to go back.

My wife and I come here every time we visit Boise. The food is delicious. We like the funky atmosphere. It is like being in an antique shop. One elderly gentle man does everything himself. So expect to wait a little, but it's worth it.

The Moto is have patience since it’s one man one wok. I find the place charming, very polite and where customers are very familiar with the owner and with each other. I’m the guest and visitor who finds this very interesting. It actually made me slow down to enjoy the calming soothing music playing in the background and wanting to enjoy eating my food which was good. 1 egg roll was not enough for my hungry appetite and I found the pad Thai needing more spice and portion. I wish he can get some help so I can order some more food Togo. If you are not in a hurry and have good company to converse for a while then this is the place to go. Hot tea was automatically delivered with menu.
